Ever since I was a kid, I've been obsessed with hair. As a little girl, I would play hairstylist with my dolls. By my teens I was helping my friends style their hair before a night out. When I watched award shows on TV, I was more interested in the hairstyles of the celebrities to learn the latest trends by seeing who was doing what with their hair. I was the kid in the hairstylist’s chair asking all the questions.

Being creative is who I am. I took lots of art classes in school and decided upon graduation that I needed to continue along that path. What better way than to use hair as my canvas. I started my hair journey in 2007 by enrolling in the London School of Hairdressing in Vancouver. Upon completion I came right back to Delta and have been doing what I love best since 2008 in the community in which I grew up. My passion for hair has grown through the years I’ve been working as a stylist. New techniques and trends keep me excited to learn more and try new things.

In 2020 I decided to go independent and became my own business which has been a tremendous experience. In 2023 my work bestie Kelly, who I’ve worked with for the last 13 years, and I decided it was time to do our own thing together and we started the Modern Boho. I couldn't be prouder of us. Hairstyling has given me the opportunity to be creative every day, and to build beautiful relationships with so many people. Helping my clients to not only look their best, but also to feel special is the best part of my day.

Hi I’m Kelly!

I’m a small town girl that’s lived, loved and grown up in Tsawwassen since my family moved here in 1989. The unique neighbourhoods and closeness to the beach and wildlife bring me so much joy and inspiration every day. Those are just a few of the reasons why I have chosen to work and live, with my husband Rob and 2 dogs, in the same town I grew up in.

At a young age I aspired to be an artist, whatever that meant. I had no direction, I just loved creating anything and everything. I would always be drawing or painting and asking for anything that was artsy for Christmas. One year I even asked for a pottery wheel, man I loved that thing. Eventually, I ended up in the fine arts program at Kwantlen University but realized it wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be. Then, I met someone who started their hair school journey and it was all I needed to push me in the right direction.

In 2004, I attended and graduated VCC in their hair program, which provided me with a solid foundation. I met so many amazing and talented stylists at hair conventions that gave me passion and inspiration to hone my skills and develop advanced techniques while enhancing my clients’ natural beauty. I quickly fell in love with all things to do with colouring and I now specialize in blonding and dimensional colour. Today, I still continue to educate myself in the most current and advanced looks so I can provide gorgeous hair for my guests while giving them a personalized look and elevated salon experience.

Fast forward to 2023 and Jamie and I were presented with the opportunity to create our own salon in the same space we had worked in for 15 years, so we took the leap and formed The Modern Boho in 2024! We wanted to create a warm and welcoming space that embraces natures beauty and a creative energy. With full hearts and and lots of support from family and friends, we are so proud to have achieved that goal and invite you to choose our space for your hair needs and experience the Boho vibe.
